Further to Knurphts advice, you can see if a driver is bound to a USB device by examining. but it does appear under linux mint but with a generic Realtek name before installing the driver. I also noticed that the usb wireless stick does not appear when running lspci.

Re: I need help compiling Realtek 8822BU driver. Also remember that kali does not support every type of wifi adapter so you need to confirm that they support yours. If you have a second adapter I dont see it, but in any case even if it is unnamed the device shows in the guest lsusb as you see it there. Make: Entering directory `/home/phrogz/2011_0225_RT5370_RT5372_Linux_STA_V2.5.0.1_DPO/tools' This is shown in the lsusb from the guest. When I return to the root of the extracted directory and run make, however, it fails: sudo make # Support Native WpaSupplicant for Network Maganger Updating to Kernel 4.19 might help (helped me on my laptop), but it is better if we know what chip your wifi dongle has. : ID 0bda:0179 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. With the Wifi USB adapter connected, run: lsusb grep -i 'wireles\realtek' Your wifi adapter is probably a Realtek chip if the amazon.in comments are reliable. I edited os/linux/config.mk to have these settings: # Support Wpa_Supplicant Ok so i bought a very cheap small wifi usb dongle for my raspberry pi model B V1.0 (I was an early adopter). After extracting it, the only README in the file mentions the "RT2870 Wireless Lan Linux Driver" however, the Makefile at the root of the directory does have these lines: ifeq ($(CHIPSET),)

I downloaded the link for RT5370 from Ralink's Linux Drivers site, resulting in a file named 2011_0225_RT5370_RT5372_Linux_STA_V2.5.0.1_2. When I plug the dongle in, it does not 'just work' ifconfig and iwconfig do not show the device, though lsusb does show the device listed: lsusb | grep Ralinkīus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:5370 Ralink Technology, Corp. It comes with a Ralink RT5370 802.11n WiFi dongle. I have a Trim-Slice Value using Ubuntu 11.04.
